Masonry-first since 2009

Chimney Sweep for DC, Maryland & Virginia

Brickline's $189 flat-rate sweep removes creosote, soot, and debris from cap to firebox. Drop cloths go down before a single brush goes up, a HEPA vacuum runs the whole time, and you get a written report with photos when we're done. Swept to CSIA and NFPA 211 standards — by a crew that also happens to be masons, so if we spot failing mortar, we can actually tell you what it means.

  • Typical price: $189 flat — quoted flat

Why an Annual Sweep Matters

The NFPA lists failure to clean chimneys as a leading cause of chimney fires. Creosote builds in stages: stage 1 is dusty and brushes away easily; stage 3 is glazed, nearly impossible to remove, and extremely flammable. An annual sweep keeps buildup at stage 1 — cheap to handle, safe to live with.

The Rowhouse Difference

Pre-war DMV rowhouses often share party-wall chimney stacks with narrow, unlined flues. We've swept 1,200+ of them since 2009 — we know where the smoke shelves hide debris and why some Capitol Hill flues need smaller rotary heads. That experience is the difference between a sweep and a scraped flue tile.

How Our Chimney Sweep Works

What the Neighbors Say

4.9· 380+ reviews across DC, MD & VA

They matched the mortar on our 1918 rowhouse perfectly. You can't tell where the repair starts. Flat quote, no surprises, brick dust swept off the sidewalk when they left.

L

Laura B.

Capitol Hill, DC

Two other companies told us to tear the chimney down. Brickline rebuilt the top four courses with reclaimed brick and it looks original. Historic review board approved it without a note.

J

James O.

Old Town Alexandria, VA

Sweep and Level 2 inspection before we bought the house. The photo report caught a cracked flue tile the general inspector missed. Worth every dollar of the $250.

P

Priya N.

Bethesda, MD

The $189 sweep is actually $189. Drop cloths everywhere, HEPA vacuum running the whole time, written report with photos before they left. Booking again next fall.

M

Marcus T.

Petworth, DC

Water had been getting into the firebox for two winters. They found the cracked crown in one visit, quoted it flat, and fixed it in an afternoon. Dry ever since.

E

Ellen W.

Silver Spring, MD

No upsells, no scare tactics. The mason who quoted the repointing was the one on the roof doing it. That alone puts them ahead of everyone else we called.
